I love lapis lazuli – it reminds me of a starry night at midnight – check out the video and photos to see the amazing sparkles of silvery pyrite in amongst the blue. The lovely teardrop shape is wrapped securely in 925 sterling silver in the pendulum design. The silver has been wrapped with care, hammered and polished to form a sturdy frame that compliments the stone perfectly. This pendant comes with a complimentary sliding knot cord necklace, which can be adjusted to suit the neckline of your top.
Lapis lazuli is a metamorphic rock that is actually a combination of several types of rock. The name ‘lapis’ is Latin for ‘stone’ and ‘azure’ which is a French misprounciation of the Arabic ‘lazaward’ which means ‘sky’ or ‘heaven’. It has been used as a gemstone for thousands of years. The most important mineral in the composition of lapis lazuli is lazurite. Most lapis lazuli also contains calcite (white), sodalite (blue) and pyrite (metallic yellow).
