This interesting variscite (often called by the trade name impression jasper) cabochon has an intricate pattern on a yellow/green base – it sure is different and bound to stand out! Wrapped in copper, it has been finished in an antiqued style and polished by hand to highlight the detail, with a copper bead to accent the design. It comes with a complimentary chain.
Variscite was formally discovered in Varicisa, Germany, in 1837 but has been used in jewellery since ancient times. It usually occurs when phosphate-bearing water meets with minerals containing aluminium.
