Silver sheen obsidian is a natural volcanic glass. It forms where molten rock cools quickly, leaving little chance for the atoms to crystalise. This often happens where lava is exposed to water or cold air. Obsidian is usually black and translucent, however gas bubbles or inclusions trapped in the rock can cause different colours when the light reflects off them (in this case, silver).
